Forum: Alternatives to Attacking Iran, with Helena Cobban and Carah Ong

Beginning at 7 p.m. on Monday evening, we'll be presenting a free public forum on alternatives to attacking Iran, featuring remarks by Carah Ong and Helena Cobban.

Carah Ong is the Iran Policy Analyst at the Center for Arms Control and Non-Proliferation (www.armscontrolcenter.org) where her work focuses on Iran and the greater Middle East. She most recently visited Iran in February and March 2008. She currently serves on the National Advisory Board of the Alsos Digital Library on Nuclear Issues at Washington and Lee University and is a consultant to the Peace and Security Funders Group, based in Charlottesville. In Fall 2008, Ong will be a graduate student in the Department of Politics at the University of Virginia. She blogs at http://irannuclearwatch.blogspot.com

Helena Cobban, who for 17 years was a columnist on global affairs for The Christian Science Monitor, is the author of the newly-published citizen's handbook "Re-engage! America and World After Bush". She is a member of Charlottesville Friends Meeting (Quakers), a longtime supporter of CCPJ, and blogs at http://JustWorldNews.org . She last visited Iran in December 2004. Copies of "Re-engage!" will be available at the event.

The Albemarle County Office Building is located at the intersection of McIntire Road and Preston Avenue in downtown Charlottesville, Va., at 401 McIntire Road.
